My original image was taken in Las Vegas. I noticed a little orange stuffed whale someone had thrown in the water and it had drifted to the back of the hotel.

For my assignment I decided to add this whale a little friend.

Now, they can swim around in Vegas for the rest of time :)

L.A. Trip: April 16, 2008

My good friend from high school, Jeremy, brought me to the Baton Rouge airport this morning. When I got into the airport a nice looking businessman helped me print out my boarding pass and check in my luggage! I was so thankful to have met him when I arrived at the airport. He also ended up being on the same flight. I met a girl, Cara, who is from Lafayette and we ended up sitting near each other. It was both of our first times to fly alone so we were glad we met someone. I sat by a man from Denver on my flight to Dallas. He was very nice and helped me find the TrAAin, the American Airlines train, that brings you to different terminals to find your flight when we reached Dallas, but he and Cara were on their way to Denver so we separated ways.

As I waited for my plane to fly to Los Angeles, I watched CNN, which of course was full of presidential candidates, and the President. The Pope was also on because he made his first trip to USA today. He was going to speak at Catholic University, but I didn’t get to watch him speak because it was time to board the plane to LA.

I am on my Dallas flight to Los Angeles, and I am definitely starting to get excited! I feel like I have been flying all day long! The scenery out my plane window is much different than it was for the BR to Dallas flight. Instead of seeing city and cars, I see mountainous terrain. It is very beautiful. I’m definitely not used to seeing mountains!

I’m very excited to get into L.A. I only have about an hour to go till I arrive. I’m hoping to see celebrities at LAX, but who knows if I will. I know there are none on my plane! (6:48 Central time)

Robbed/Opening New Chapters

It is very upsetting to be a young adult trying to save money and make your way in the world. When I find a penny, I really do pick it up. I save everything to buy the things I want, to make rent, or a car note.

I don't like to be frivolous with my money. I work hard for it, and spending money on things I can live without is hard for me. I had been wanting a new digital camera for over a year, so when I graduated in December from college my dad asked me what I wanted. I was so excited, I told him I wanted exactly what he bought me for my high school graduation. He had bought me a digital camera when I graduated high school, and I was extremely excited. That camera had gone about kaput by now, so I took the money my dad gave me along with tips I had been saving up for WEEKS and bought a new, shiny, over 10 megapixel digital camera. It cost me over $400 which I went back and forth on for a while, but if I'm going to save for it, it is going to be the best.

I am really careful with my new camera. I don't leave it in my purse if I'm not planning on using it, and it is always in it's case! Well, I brought my camera back home when I went visit to take pictures and record my little brothers because I'm planning on moving to California in June, and I want to be able to watch the videos when I'm lonely.

I went to work tonight with my camera in my purse. I put my purse in my backseat on the floor. I usually NEVER leave my purse in my car, but I thought it would be ok if my car is parked in the light right by the door/window of the restaurant I work at. I should have never done that! My car's back passenger glass was shattered and my purse stolen.

I am really upset about this! I just bought my purse less than a month ago, and I fussed at myself for buying it because is was a little over $80, I told myself that was too much to spend when you are struggling. I did it anyway. I also had a designer wallet I had begged my mom for with pictures you can't replace in it. I had casino chips also in my purse totaling just under $200, my new shiny camera :( and my LSU checkbook.

I keep telling myself these are material thing that can be replaced, and I'm fortunate I wasn't robbed in another manner. But, the truth is, these aren't just material things. These are my things, that I worked very hard to earn. I feel violated. I know there are worse things that could have happen to me, but I just feel like I'm not catching up financially. I used to take money for granted, no worries in the world. Now that I'm struggling, it seems to never stop. I was just about to put my car in the shop to finally have it repaired after I had wrecked it in August of 2008. Now, I'm worrying about replacing a window, purse, wallet, checkbook, license, and camera.

How am I supposed to move back to California? Are these signs God is sending me to stay? The economy, realizing how much I am going to miss my family and friends, not making as much money as I used to, jobs I wanted being offered to me in Louisiana. What if I take up one of these job opportunities in Louisiana, near home? Am I going to regret not trying to pursue my dream?

New iPod Shuffle

I am so glad I did not buy a iPod shuffle last week!

Apple came out with a new iPod shuffle. There are no buttons on this new tiny shuffle. It has special headphones that have a small piece for you to change songs and adjust volume. It is super small, and (GUESS WHAT) it talks to you!!! Seems perfect for cardio lovers or should I say cardio doers?

Anyways, it is definitely worth checking out!

Wow, I sure haven't blogged in like what a year!! Well, I always say I'm going to keep this up and never do, but I'm really going to try now. First, here's a little about me: I'm from a small town in Louisiana. I love God, my life, family and friends in that order! I enjoy readying, hanging out with friends, and having a good time. I graduated with honors from McNeese State University in December 2008 where I earned a BS (not a BS as in bull shit, but as in Bachelor of Science, yes, I'm intelligent lol) in Mass Communication with a concentration in Journalism. I did this in three and half years. Now, I am planning on moving back to Los Angeles in June with Michelle and LP, two of the girls I interned with at Young Hollywood last summer! Ok, so, my "official, as of a week ago" move in day is June 1, 2009!!! I am so excited, but there are a million things I have to do before I move.

1. I have to figure out how I'm going to get there. Meaning, I guess I will need a U-Haul, meaning You Haul it yourself haha I remember when I figured that one out! Maybe I should not have admitted that lol.

2. I have to pack everything up. WOW! :( That is just going to be a job itself!

3. GOODBYES that is going to be sad. When I first left to Cali, I only went for the summer so goodbyes weren't bad, but this time I'm moving! YAY!

I know I haven't blogged in a long time! I only started this thing because of a class, but now I think I should keep it up. So here's an update on ME!

I scheduled my last semester of school last week.

I am going to Los Angeles Wednesday to visit a friend, and hopefully, have an interview for an internship there! I'm packing tonight and have no idea what to pack!

I'll let you know how the trip and interview goes!!!!

Clear Channel owns most of the airwaves. At the beginning of the article, I did not like the issue with Agnew and Clear Channel. I do not think one company should own most of the airwaves, and how they can make up a price for advertisements. When one company owns most of the radio stations, they can make advertisers pay whatever they want because advertisers do not have a choice if they want their advertisements to be heard by everyone. It also can make for radio to become very bias because it is all the same company's opinions.
The only good thing I read in the article is that it makes it easy for managers of bands to put on a tour across the country. If Clear Channel owns most of the amphitheatres, by making one phone call to Clear Channel, you can book your tour across the country. The bad thing, just like with advertisers, is that they can give you any price they want, but this is better than having to call mulitple companies and booking.

Critique of other classmate's websites

First I want to start off saying, "I hope no one is offended by my critiques! Who cares what i think about them haha!"
Taryn's page is fun. She has pictures, a scrolling menu, flash movie, an update on her engagment. I like it!
Ryan's page: I think Ryan's main site page is very plain. It's all words with a few links. He doesn't have a scroll menu or flash movie!
Diana's site is cute. Not as nice as Taryn's, but still cute. She has a flash movie, and a scrolling menu! I really like her photo page. It is nice and neat, and fun to look at!
Alicia's page: Everything is centered in a line. Her page is fun, but i would put things across the page instead of a line. Overall good, but the "blog" button in her scroll menu doesn't have the rollover different button thing.
Angela's site is cool. I like how it's black and white with her title in blue. One thing I noticed on Alicia and Angela's site is that neither made another page for their video yet. When you click them, they don't do anything. Others have made a page that says under construction or something like that.
Arvind has no page lol!
Kiesten's site: I really like how she has a distored picture as the background!
Linzi's site is really nice. I like it. One problem is that her links in her scroll menu are not working. I can only go to her blog. I would have put her little bio under her pictures to help with the flow. Overall really nice!
Heather's page: I really like the colors and how she has an interest page and ambitions page. Her page is in a staight line too. Her page is very nice, one can get to know her just by going to her page.
Liz's page is very nice and neat, easy on the eyes. I like it, but she is another that has inactive links from her scrolling menu.
Shana's website is nice, but none of her links in her scroll menu link to anywhere?
Nothing on Kristin's webpage seems to work, but something may just be wrong with this computer? I don't know.
Overall, I like my page the best, but there are somethings on other people's pages that I like.
I like Diana's photo page the best. I like Taryn's charities and organizations page, and I like Heather's ambitions and interests page!

I loved my Emerging Media class! I enjoy learning new computer programs, building a webpage, editing photos. If I had these programs at home, I would not have a social life beyond networking on the computer. I would constantly build a website, and further my skill on these programs. Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and GoLive were all fun to work with. My mom always asks me what I would like for Christmas; I'm thinking I want all this software!
I believe that having knowledge in these programs will be very benifcial when jobseeking. All these programs are opening up new job opertunities that recent college graduates in the media will be great for. I wish there was an Emerging Media Practice 2 class that I could take that would teach me more things on the programs and new programs! I'm such a media nerd...

I have found a really bad website and a really good website for you to look at the difference...
Really bad website:I chose this website because it is a complete mess. The American Press is the newspaper here in Lake Charles, LA. The page is extremly messy. There are adds everywhere and no focal point. When you go to a page, you want to be able to find what you are looking for right away, and this page does not allow you to do so. It is also an example of an unorganized website we used in class.
Really neat website: I chose yahoo.com as my organized website. It has a ton of information for you that is very easy to navigate through. Nice and Neat!

My Podcast

EPIC movies

The Epic movie we watched in class last week showed the future of the media. I do believe that all news will be accessable on the web, which it pretty much is. I do not believe that this will get rid of print. Many people like reading their newspaper whereever and whenever. I know I rather read print then on the internet, but I know I can find any story on the internet quickly and easily.
I thought it was revoltionary for a magazine to put pictures of their subcribers home personalizing each of their magazines with the headline we can see you. I think that probably freaked out most of their subcribers, but it shows you what all you can do easily on the internet.
The media and technology are growing very quickly, I believe many good things will come from this, but also that many bad things could also.

It is all about going to all the parties and premiers and the gossip on all the celibrities. How they get ready for an event, what they like to drink, or who they like to go out with. This weeks podcast is about Kim, Kloe and Kourtney Kardashian and their new reality show Keeping up with the Kardashians. I hope you enjoy.

Copyright and Regulation

The fact that someone can take someone else's article, turn it around completly, say you interviewed the orginal article's writer when in fact you did not, and publish it as your own is horrible. It is not like stealing a possesion because if that is stolen, you are without and worse off. If someone steals your ideas, you still have them. What is lost? Nothing, but if someone publishes your ideas then there should be a copyright law against it. They should be fined or you should be compensated.
Intellectual property has a whole different set of laws then physical property. It has copyright, patent, and trademark. Technology is allowing intellectual property to be spread all over the web and airwaves. Who is to say who said it first?
Pirarcy is a big problem. There are so many ways to download or burn CDs and DVDs of music and movies these days. It makes it really hard to regulate all of it or punish people for it. This is really bad for artists, entertainment companies are losing a lot of money.
Apple's iTunes is excellent at helping regulate copyrighted music and movies. You have to download it from them and pay a fee. Apple even has a group on facebook that will send you free downloads or give you a discount. There are other sites like iTunes that help this too.
I do not believe that there is way to get rid of illegal file sharing all together. I think people will always find a way to do it.
In high school, I used to be a regular to download music. I did not know it was illegal back then. The reason that I do not download music from Kazaa or Napster anymore is not because it is illegal, but that I would rather not get any viruses on my computer. My brothers and I stoped downloading music years ago when my mom would have to pay someone to clean out the computer drive all the time. I know there used to be a ton of viruses on those sites.

The Teen Choice Awards aired Sunday (Aug. 26) on FOX and all our favorite yound celebrities were there except our three favorite women to read about in the gossip columns. Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton were nominated for the "Newsmaker of the Year" award. Lohan for her recent DUI, Spears for her head shaving craziness, and Hilton for her recent 26 vacation in jail. The three young ladies' publicists went into a frenzy with Fox and Fox got rid of the category on the show all together. Bummer!

Loss of Privacy: Although revolutionary, it is scary how easily the government or an ordinary person can find out information about you.
The Death of Distance: No one things about long distance calling anymore. There are many ways to get in touch with family, friends or random people all over the world for free.
Improved Writing and Reading Skills: texting, Email, myspace, facebook, and AIM or only a few of the ways young people communicate with others. They are writing constantly which is improving their skills.
